Guidelines for Variety Authors

Variety is an international popular magazine on youth work and youth
policy. Its main aim is to support youth work development in Europe by creating space for broad discussion, sharing and exchange of experience and knowledge and by dissemination of experience with good practice, youth work development, researches and interesting and innovative projects.
The primary target group are youth workers, youth leaders, leaders of youth organisations and opinion and decision makers in European youth policy.
Our intention is to publish interesting, motley and catchy magazine bringing in the same time good texts developing the field of youth work and youth policy.

Text and file format
The articles should be submitted in electronic way to the e-mail address variety@iynf.org or lucie@iynf.org. Please use Microsoft Word DOC file format or Rich Text Format files only. The articles should not be shorter than 500 words and should not exceed 2000 words.
Please write the articles in as simple formatting as possible. Use 12 points Times New Roman font. Avoid using Tabs and spaces to format text. Long texts should always be divided into chapters, paragraphs are recommended to be shorter than 7 lines.

Photos and pictures
We would like to encourage you to provide illustrative pictures to the article. The pictures should be sharp, contrast, having good light and be interesting in its content. The lowest minimum resolution of the pictures is 1200x850 pixels, however such picture will only be about 10x6 cm large. Pictures of reasonable quality start at 1600x1200. If you want to send us high resolution pictures having consequently rather big size, please contact the editors before to communicate the most proper way of sending big data files.
Pictures should NOT (!) be included in the text file in any cases but always sent separately. The most appropriate file format is JPG, TIFF or GIF.

Style
The articles should be written in English, in legible and interesting way having in mind that English is not a mother tongue for most of the readership and that the readers are primarily volunteers. If you don't feel sure about your English skills, the editorial team members are able to translate the articles from some European languages. Please note, that we use the UK grammar and spelling in Variety, so it is worth off switching on your spellchecker to UK English.

Please do not hesitate to send us articles written in German, Czech/Slovak, Polish, Hungarian or Dutch/Flemish. We are able to arrange translation from other languages in reasonable cases.

Title
Please provide the article with a title not longer than 8 words, however, less is more here. You may use the sub-title to specify the topic of the article; it shall be no longer than 10 words. You are encouraged to use the option of perex - the first paragraph introducing the rest of the text in interesting and catchy way.

Author's coordinates
Please write your full name, optionally title, your e-mail address, country of residence and short presentation of your experience relevant to the topic of the article (maximum 20 words).

Abbreviations
All abbreviations should be spelled out in the text the first time they are used.

References
Although the magazine has a rather popular character and the topics shouldn't be too scholar, it is sometimes important to provide references, where appropriate. It is recommended not to use more than six references, however some cases might need an exception, but authors are encouraged to consider the readership possibilities. If using references, please keep this form:
