Meet the freak 5

11 - 26/8/2009Hungary, Szálka
„Feeling freaky?”

For the fifth time in history Meet the freak will happen. This year the Freak will be in Hungary.

Meet the freak means a space for a creative discovery of yourself and interacting with others through experiencing together various methods in different fields of art. This year we will be exploring the theme Neighbours in touch.

Meet the freak aims to spread the amateur art experience among its participants and the local community. The main objectives of the project are to raise the intercultural awareness -, encourage the self organising skills- and support active participation of young people.

The exchange was already organised in 2005 and 2006 in Czech Republic, in 2007 in Germany and 2008 in Portugal. This year 60 young people from minimum nine European countries will meet for two weeks in Hungary.

The exchange is a combination of more structured art workshops (Art groups) in different fields (dancing, visual arts, juggling, media, theatre, music and djing) where people can gain new skills (1st week) and Freak projects where everybody can initiate art projects with the topic of Neighbours in touch (2nd week). Next to this there is space for small workshops offered by anyone present (Hokus focus), reflection groups (Chill&chat), presentations to each other and the local community (Final event) and much much more …

No matter your skills, nor your experience!

  • Are you between 18 and 25 years old, motivated to share experiences, ready to get inspired by others?
  • Are you interested in spreading your freakyness and also share it with the Hungarian local community?
  • Are able to communicate in English?
  • Are you Austrian, Belgian, Czech, German, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian or Slovak?

Then you are the right person to live the flow of Meet the freak!
