Naturfreundejugend Deutschlands – NFJD in partnership with IYNF is organising the training course Wilderness Mentoring. Taking place in Eifel, Germany between 15 and 21 September 2014, it will be aimed at inspiring trainers to care for nature and to enable them to kindle the passion for nature in others. Its purpose will be to build an intimate relationship with the natural world by applying time-tested mentoring methods of people living in close touch to Earth.

The skills taught are covering elements of life in nature (concerning shelter, fire, food, orientation and crafts), awareness skills (using the senses, walking invisibly through the woods or mapping), as well as cultural elements which ensure the creation of a relationship between individuals and nature. The focus will also be on a way of mentoring that takes personal curiosity to new levels, in order to gain the power to find your own answers.

The course is open to any youth workers and group leaders, regardless if they are experienced or only in training. The language of the course will be English, some parts being translatable to German. The participants have to cover their travel costs and pay a fee which varies between 30 and 150€, depending on their country of residence. It covers training and full board, and participants are encouraged to bring their own tents.

The application period will start soon and will end on the 15th of June, so make sure to follow this place and www.nfjd.de for more news. For further information, you can contact jasmin@naturfreundejugend.de.
